Help! I don’t know my sizing

There are many ways you can measure your ring size, a quick Google search will confirm this. We find however, the best and most reliable way to do so is to have it measured by a professional jeweller. This service is free of charge at any local or High Street jewellery stores.

What is gold plating and how long will it last?

Gold plating is a process of layering 10ct, 14ct, 18ct or 22ct gold onto a bass metal such as brass or sterling silver, giving the impression of fine jewellery without the hefty price tag. Layers are called microns. We plate our brass to two microns using 18ct gold We plate our sterling silver items to 2.5 microns using 18ct gold. Sterling silver plated to 2.5 microns of 18ct gold is called vermeil. We also use rhodium and ruthenium plating on some items of jewellery. Both rhodium and ruthenium plating are subject to wear and tear quicker than gold plating. Please take this into consideration when purchasing an item. We have a section on how to care for all your plated items.

There is no reason why your plating should not last a good few years with due care and attention. If you would like your item re-plated at any time there is a charge of £10 inclusive of postage. We will use the standard first class postage for this service. If you would like an alternative, please contact us.

How to look after your item

When plated jewellery is worn constantly it may start to appear tarnished and faded. In order to keep your items looking the best they can we suggest a few simple tips.

Try not to wear your jewellery whilst coming into contact with water. Remove all jewellery before washing your hands and do not wear it in the shower.

Apply all creams, perfumes and deodorants before you put on your jewellery.

Keep your jewellery in the velvet pouches provided and as an extra precaution, some acid free paper.

Do not use any products such as Brasso on plated item in order to enhance their appearance. This will do quite the opposite. Use a cotton cloth and a few drops of tepid water to remove any dirt or scuff marks. You may use a small amount of fairy liquid at your own discretion.
